Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Earns National Certification
Santa Teresa, New Mexico – Tanya V Marin has earned national board certification and the credential of Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP®) in Primary Care after successfully passing the rigorous national CPNP board exam developed and administered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
Ms. Marin earned her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at the University of Texas at El Paso in 1997. After working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for 5 years at Providence Memorial Hospital, she return to school. She received her Master of Science in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio with honors in 2002.
National board certification is an objective, measurable way of validating the graduate level educational preparation and clinical skills of pediatric nurse practitioners who will diagnose and treat illnesses of children and adolescents and manage their care over time. PNPs assess physical and emotional well-being of their patients, promote optimal health, and play a vital role in the healthcare team.
Established in 1975, the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) is the leading certification organization for pediatric nursing. PNCB's mission is to provide the highest quality certification services for nursing professionals who care for pediatric populations. PNCB exams are unique in that they are the only certification exams collaboratively designed by Certified Pediatric Nurses, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and pediatricians. PNCB exams are recognized and endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the Society of Pediatric Nurses. The CPNP exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
